Is America finally waking up?

Bush Impeachment - The Illinois State Legislature is Preparing to Drop a Bombshell
Utilising a little known rule of the US House to bring Impeachment charges
By Steven Leser

The Illinois General Assembly is about to rock the nation. Members of state legislatures are normally not considered as having the ability to decide issues with a massive impact to the nation as a whole. Representative Karen A. Yarbrough of Illinois' 7th District is about to shatter that perception forever. Representative Yarbrough stumbled on a little known and never utilised rule of the US House of Representatives, Section 603 of Jefferson's Manual of the Rules of the United States House of Representatives, which allows federal impeachment proceedings to be initiated by joint resolution of a state legislature. From there, Illinois House Joint Resolution 125 (hereafter to be referred to as HJR0125) was born.

Detailing five specific charges against President Bush including one that is specified to be a felony, the complete text of HJR0125 is copied below at the end of this article. One of the interesting points is that one of the items, the one specified as a felony, that the NSA was directed by the President to spy on American citizens without warrant, is not in dispute. That fact should prove an interesting dilemma for a Republican controlled US House that clearly is not only loathe to initiate impeachment proceedings, but does not even want to thoroughly investigate any of the five items brought up by the Illinois Assembly as high crimes and/or misdemeanours. Should HJR0125 be passed by the Illinois General Assembly, the US House will be forced by House Rules to take up the issue of impeachment as a privileged bill, meaning it will take precedence over other House business.

The Illinois General Assembly joins a growing chorus of voices calling for censure or impeachment of President Bush including Democratic state committees in Vermont, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Nevada and North Carolina as well as the residents themselves of seven towns in Vermont, seventy Vermont state legislators and Congressman John Conyers. The call for impeachment is starting to grow well beyond what could be considered a fringe movement. An ABC News/Washington Post Poll Conducted April 6-9 showed that 33% of Americans currently support Impeaching President Bush, coincidentally, only a similar amount supported impeaching Nixon at the start of the Watergate investigation. If and when Illinois HJR0125 hits the capitol and the individual charges are publicly investigated, that number is likely to grow rapidly. Combined with the very real likelihood that Rove is about to be indicted in the LeakGate investigation, and Bush is in real trouble beyond his plummeting poll numbers. His cronies in the Republican dominated congress will probably save him from the embarrassment of an impeachment conviction, for now, but his Presidency will be all but finished.

Looks like the writing is very definitely on the wall for Mr Bush! And hopefully Tony Blair won't be far behind. Police investigations into the "Peerages for loans" scandal in the UK are coming closer and closer to the Prime Minister...
Members of Parliament are even joking that the police guard on the door of number 10 Downing Street is not to stop "trouble" getting in, but rather to stop Mr. Blair doing a runner and escaping....
Don't you just love it....... smile

Sure do!  This is great news, Quercus.  Thanks for posting this.  Maybe Bush and Blair can be cell mates on some "Alcatraz" somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.  They can meet each other half way and lick their wounds with a life sentence.  big_smile

Firstly, I apologise for posting the above in this part of the forum; it was a mistake, should have been under "General". So, sorry about that.

I take it you mean that figuratively, organic. With their rumoured proclivities, one can never be sure, and I wouldn't want to condemn them to something they might enjoy..... wink

Re: Is America finally waking up?

Quercus,
I do hope you are right.  And whether impeachment "succeeds" or not, merely passing such an action will put the Republican Congress through some very funny hoops and wake a lot of people up.  And when people start waking up, no one can tell where it will stop.  I think the real major hurdle in American politics is to break up the 2 party lock where both candidates are pre vetted by greedy corporations, banks and other controllers.

And from your reference about Bush & Blairs "rumored proclivities", I assume you are referring to homosexuality or bi-sexuality.  I have, of course, read many references regarding GW Bush's sexuality, but I have not previously heard that about Blair.

I googled "Bush homosexual" and this is the first listing, which I think must be satire.  It's pretty funny.

BASH - BAPTISTS ARE SAVING HOMOSEXUALS.
Is President Bush a Girly Man?

"Karyn is with us. A West Texas girl, just like me"
-- President Bush, May 27, 2004

January 2004. Mr. Bush wandered over during Mr. [Scot] Reid's [senior strategist to Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin] chat with the Prime Minister. Mr. Reid introduced himself and shook hands with Mr. Bush.

The President chuckled. "Well, you got a pretty face," he told the surprised Mr. Reid. He wasn't done. "You got a pretty face," he said again. "You're a good-looking guy. Better looking than my Scott anyway."

-- President Bush in a coquettish bout of eye-batting homosexual diplomatic flirting January 16, 2004 The Globe and Mail

We at Baptists Are Saving Homosexuals have BASHed enough so-called "gays" with the blunt love of Jesus to know how to spot deviants across a crowded sale at Saks. Outside of Italian shoes, nothing sends up a rainbow-colored flare that you are dealing with a flaming homosexual more reliably than when a man breathlessly gushes the word "faaabulous!" When a Christian lady hears this word outside of her hair salon or florist, she instinctively reaches for the Bible tracts in her purse because she knows a nancy boy is within throwing range.

"It's been a fabulous year for Laura and me."
-- George W. Bush., three months after the World Trade Center towers went down.

Therefore, conservative Christians throughout the land have become increasingly uncomfortable as they dutifully mask each awkward pause with a flurry of polite applause and yells of "more wars!" during President Bush's somewhat laborious attempts at speaking. While Tony Blair may have mastered the Queen's English, our President's vocabulary calls to mind any number of queens' English. Even our least vigilant Republican social commandos have noticed that Mr. Bush has been peppering his otherwise delightful litany of patriotic jingoism and pleasantly embroidered CIA-intelligence recaps with the effeminate mating call "fabulous" -- three giddy syllables that are tantamount to coyly cooing, "Hello, sailor!"

"And we'll prevail, because we're a faaabulous nation, and we're a faaabulous nation because we're a nation full of faaabulous people."
-- George W. Bush., Atlanta, GA, January 31, 2002

Indeed, it appears that everyone our prancing President runs into is simply FAB-U-LOUS!

(Not one word in quotation marks has been changed from the official transcripts. To you hellbound doubting Thomases out there (you know who you are -- and so does Jesus)..... White House website that contains the speech in which the word "fabulous" was squealed with delight.)

Official Xanax spokesperson Laura Bush ("a fabulous First Lady");

His viper-tongued mother Barbara ("a fabulous mother");

Nimble prevaricator Condoleezza Rice (an "honest fabulous person")

Chuck Berry (who -- my stars! -- did prison time for surreptitiously filming women going to the toilet), Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, and Stevie Wonder ("a fabulous array of artists") -- so nice that our swishy leader had gotten over the public snub of Stevie not waving back at him!;

His whole Cabinet ("I put together a fabulous Cabinet");.....

Quercus, it looks like Britain's waking up too.  Get a load of this posted in Truth Seeker today, 7-12-06.  Note the connection to Iraq.  In addition to being "Lord Cashpoint" for Tony, arrested Lord Levy was also Blair's chief envoy to the Middle East.  http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/article.asp?ID=4782

Lord Levy Arrested
IC South London.co.uk – July 12, 2006

Labour's chief fundraiser Lord Levy has been arrested in connection with Scotland Yard's so-called "cash for honours" inquiry.

The Metropolitan Police is investigating whether peerages were offered in return for financial support to parties.

The force confirmed that a man had been arrested, but would not confirm his identity.

Sources said the man held was Lord Levy.

The peer, who plays tennis with Tony Blair and is nicknamed Lord Cashpoint for his role in raising funds for Labour, is still in custody.

A police spokesman said: "Officers from the Specialist Crime Directorate requested a man to attend a London Police Station where he was arrested in connection with alleged offences under the Honours (Prevention of Abuses) Act 1925 and Political Parties, Elections and Referendum Act 2000."

He added: "The man is currently in custody."

A spokesman confirmed Lord Levy has remained the Prime Minister's personal Middle East envoy.

Re: Is America finally waking up?

It gets better... Although Levy is now out on bail, following more questioning this afternoon, rumour has it that the New Scotland Yard investigation is getting closer to Blair all the time and it is thought he will be questioned in the next couple of days or so. It is also suggested that he will be questioned under "caution". This is getting serious. The man is now regarded as damaged goods by his political colleagues and is generally considered to have brought his party - Labour - into disrepute. No mean task, especially as his much favoured deputy, John Prescott (Ginster man), is also under close scrutiny for other misdemeanours. Ginsters are a well known manufacturer of meat pies and Cornish pasties - they are very good, actually - but eat enough of them and you'll get fat. There are a lot of jokes about Prescott and Ginsters!

This just gets better and better as the pace of change accelerates. With a bit of help from our friends, the boys will soon be coming home from Afghanistan and Iraq; any light I have is directed in that direction.

You are right, the wake up call is now going out loud and clear..... lets hope the "sheeple" are listening!
