Hale-Bopp
In late 1996, Brown corroborated claims made by amateur astronomer Chuck Shamek that a large object was located behind Comet Hale-Bopp. According to Brown, remote viewers at the Farsight Institute had witnessed the object and confirmed that it was a UFO. In January 1997, Brown provided photographic evidence to radio host Art Bell, claiming to have received the photograph's negatives from an unnamed astronomer at a major university. Against Brown's urgings, Bell released the photo on the Internet. Professors from the University of Hawaii were then able to identify the photo as a forgery that had been made from a comet photo taken at that institution.
This seemingly minor occurrence evolved into a scandal when, in March of 1997, the cult group Heaven's Gate chose the appearance of the comet as a signal for their mass cult suicide. They claimed they were leaving their earthly bodies to travel to the space ship following the comet.
Brown suggested that the comet photos sent to him were part of a "wide-scale and highly organized disinformation campaign" with "resources that extend beyond those of any university or professor," and that the Farsight Institute had walked into a trap by publicizing the photo. "Disinformation campaigns," says Brown, "are not unusual in the area of extraterrestrial life."

The Vatican is a country
at the upper levels of every country of any power on our planet
the intelligence (not the enlightenment ... grin)
are all the same people
they used to be called 'Grey Men' because they were never seen
but, Hey, these days they are right out there blatent as can be (in my humble opinion)

“Without going into too much detail about my former employers, I will briefly tell you that I have had a Top Level security clearance in the Vatican for quite some time. Most of the work I have done regrettably falls into the realm of "black-ops", and I will not go into detail about that now.”

I posted the following regarding the Vatican before on a discussion with genniii on layers of truth. I believe it has relevance to this topic as well as to ongoing discussions of truth and public awareness.
Ever wonder where the phrase “bullshit” came from? Most of us think it has to do with bovine excrement and thus vaguely refers to something smelly. It’s moved into our language as a form of lie detector. We talk about things not “smelling right” and “sniffing out the truth”.
But the term has nothing to do with the bathroom habits of cows. In the middle ages the pope’s official decrees and edicts were called Papal Bulls. Clerics wrote the edicts on sheets of paper. Thus we have sheets of Papal Bull or Papal Bull sheets.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Papal bull is a special kind of patent or charter issued by a pope and named for the seal (bulla) that was appended to the end to authenticate it. Papal bulls were originally issued by the pope for many kinds of communication of a public nature, but after the 15th century, only for the more formal or solemn of occasions. Modern scholars have retroactively used the term "bull" to describe any elaborate papal document issued in the form of a decree or privilege (solemn or simple), and to some less elaborate ones issued in the form of a letter. Popularly, the name is used for any papal document that contains a metal seal.
Papal bulls have been in use since at least the 6th century, but the term was not first used until around the middle of the 13th century and then only for internal un-official papal record keeping purposes; by the 15th century the term had become official when one of the offices of the Papal chancery was named the "register of bulls" (registrum bullarum).
It would be interesting to know how far back in history papal bulls came to be recognized as “bullshit”. I also wonder if on some level people realize what they are saying when they call something “bullshit.”
