Re: the capricorn

Welcome Egypt!  Looks like we got some Floridians around here.  I'm now in Arizona.  It's a different kind of heat then Florida.  Much drier.  We're finally cooling down after a 115 degree long hot summer.

Hope you enjoy the forum.  Lots of topics to choose from and plenty of attitudes to match.  Dive right in.  I look forward to getting to know you.  You are welcomed with open arms.  smile

Re: the capricorn

Welcome from another newbie to poitouchris and Egypt

I too lived in Florida

when I first got there, I landed a live in job in Northern Ft Lauderdale but my ethics wouldnt let me do what was asked and I found myself (in 1976) living in Key West.  Ket West didnt look like it was going to make me rich enough and soon I was even poorer in Gainsville where I was fortunate to be guest lecturing at the University and utilizing thier fine research sources but living off the generosity of others who had invited me there.
From Gainsville I discovered  St Augustine and determined it to be the city that I had been dreaming of for some time and so I moved in.  St Augustine to me was a wonderfull magical place to grow in.  At first I did not get out of what I percieved as my poorness but became enriched in a multitude of other ways, living in wonderful homes and having multiple cars, motorcycles, boats and most importantly creating good friends and then eventually the 'real' cash that I thought so important.

Family needs removed me from living in the postcard world of St Augustine and put me back in my native New England,

These days I live in the Magnificent Pacific Northwest

It is still an awesome journey I find myself unfolding
there is not much back in that past that I regret except that which I did not do

Everything always changes

Re: the capricorn

Wow, genniii, I grew up in Florida, but never made it up north.  I hear it's more historic up there.  More things to see. Looks like you're a travel bug.  smile

Re: the capricorn

Add another former Floridian to the group! I also lived in Florida for about 7 years, before that I grew up in Connecticut, then we moved to Florida and I branched out from there to New Orleans for 10 years and then moved to Texas where I am now.

Re: the capricorn

Well, well, well, I also lived in Florida. Davenport near Disney. I used to watch the fireworks goes off everynight from my bedroom. Every morning the low flying hot air balloons flew over the house and once I saw the space shuttle taking off while in the pool what a treat. Loved it there but as you family situations made me come back. Sometimes I feel this is the place I am meant to be. As far as Florida that is the happiest I have ever been what a life.

Orange grove right behind the house we had fresh everyday that there were oranges. I actually would cry when they were picked.

Re: the capricorn

observe50, I had an awesome sized Grapefruit tree in my yard
When my parents visited, dad was in love with that tree!  He carried bushells of grapefruitt back to everyone else in New England
I had nieghbors (rich people) with orange trees and bannana trees and oooooh: Pecan trees!
they had 'gardners' would rake up the bounty and place it in the trash!
then go to store and pay for better looking worse tasting stuff! -Go figure huh?
and they thought I was nuts asking for permission to eat the bounty from thier trees
The lady with the bannana tree even asked me, "Suppose you pick a bannana with a spider on it?"
I used to colllect like 20 to 30 bushels of pecans every fall before they went to the garbage cans

but I still cant eat a store bought bannana without wishing I still had that prolific Bannana tree in my nieghbors back yard

Re: the capricorn

Thanx for all your welcome. I've been here for 2 years reading. I've posted a few times, but after many delays of the announcement I decided not to post so I don't rain on anybodys parade with my comments. Love you all smile and smile
